AuthorFirstLibrary is our answer to that. It's a marketplace where independent writers publish and sell their books straight to readers — stories, documentation, and lives & memoir — with no gatekeepers and no middlemen taking the lion's share.
Honesty first — it's in the name
We put the author first, and we try to be honest with everyone, including about our own limits. Here is what that means:
- Real human writing only. Books here have to carry a person's genuine effort and craft. AI can help someone fix a sentence — it can't sit in for the human. Work that's churned out end-to-end by a machine doesn't belong here, and our rules say so directly.
- You buy from the person who wrote it. No reseller in the middle, no mystery. The name on the book is the person getting paid.
- Writers keep their earnings. You set your price, and the money is yours. We'd rather earn your trust than skim your work.
- We protect the work, not exploit it. Books are read in a protected reader so a writer's months of effort can't be grabbed in one click — and we're honest that no system is perfect, rather than pretending it's magic.
We carry the hard parts
Most places hand a writer a blank upload box and wish them luck. We'd rather do the heavy lifting, so all you have to bring is the writing:

A book is someone's hours, doubts, and honesty pressed onto a page. That's worth more than an algorithm's guess at what you'll click. We think readers are quietly hungry for that again — for words with a person behind them — and that writers deserve a place that pays them like their work means something. That's the whole idea.
